So after crossing the Bolivia/Chile border my first and only stop in Chile was San Pedro de Atacama. A totally cute town near the Chilean dessert. It was of course a tourist town and prices were through the roof - I paid just over £20 for dinner and a glass on wine one evening! Madness... anyway I was actually (thankfully for my bank account) only spending 2 nights in Chile before heading to Argentina. I sadly didn’t have enough time to stay any longer or I would have loved to explore some of the coastline and head to the Capital, Santiago.
The one main activity I did in San Pedro de Atacama was the valley of the moon tour. It weirdly reminded me of the Grand Canyon in America but on a smaller scale and more desert like. I did only a half day (4 hour) tour there which included a visit to a cave, the valley of the moon itself and a stop to watch the sunset. I know you can do longer tours which include hikes etc but obviously I was restricted on time and wanted to actually explore the town of San Pedro de Atacama as well. The nightlife is fun so I went out on both nights - one of the nights was karaoke and 5 of us ended up singing spice girls! Even though the food was expensive, the wine is cheap so I wasn’t doing karaoke sober that’s for sure!
