I left Siquijor and got a 2 hour boat ride to Bohol which is where I’d be spending the next 3 nights. It was probably one of the worst boat journeys I’ve ever been on - the water was really choppy and coming over the top of the boat and people were being sick everywhere... Gross! Anyway I did eventually make it there in one piece, thank god for my travel sickness tablets!
I was staying in Panglao which is the South Island in Bohol. If I was to visit again I don’t think I’d stay in Panglao, it was just far too busy for me. I’d been very lucky that no where else I’d been had been that busy, and coming from Siquijor it felt very strange! Panglao is really popular with the Chinese and as it recently had been Chinese New Year it was even more busy than usual.
On my first evening there I took a walk along the beach and met some friends for sunset at one of the quieter beaches around the bay. Nachos and happy hour rum and cokes, yes please!
The next day I had a super chilled beach day and actually snuck into one of the fancy 5* resorts right on the beach... super cheap traveller style. I was with a friend and as he was a guy I think the staff thought we were a couple so no questions were asked! It had an infinity pool which looked right onto the beach and a bar which you could swim up too! Nothing like a free bit of luxury!
On my final day in Bohol me and a friend rented scooters and went to the mainland to meet some other friends who were staying in the north of the island, Anda. I didn’t visit Anda as it was about a 3 and a half hour drive from Panglao but if I was to come back to Bohol I’d definitely stay there as apposed to Panglao. I’d been recommended to go there by so many people but by this point I’d already booked my accommodation in Panglao and couldn’t change it! Anyway we had such a good day exploring the island, first stop was the famous chocolate hills. The drive there had such amazing views - I kept stopping to take photos! We drove through all the local villages, rice terraces and a creepy manmade forrest.
After the chocolate hills we went to the Pangas waterfalls, which were beautiful. We were there for about an hour and were the only ones there! Next we also went to visit the famous tarsiers monkeys and the very unsafe hanging bridge, although I thought the bridge I’d seen earlier in the day was much better!
Next I fly to Boracay which is my final stop in the Philippines!
