Buenos Aires

After spending 2 nights in Salta I flew from there to Buenos Aires. It was so nice to get a flight for once and not sit on a bus for nearly a whole day or night! I didn’t do a post about Salta because I wasn’t there for that long. I spent the only whole day I was there getting drunk of red wine at a local winery - the food was also really good too! The hungover flight to BA was less than fun but at least I could sleep most of the flight.

Buenos Aires is often compared to by many as the Paris of South America. It certainly had a Parisian feel about it. The wide streets and beautiful buildings.
For 2 out of the 3 days I was in Buenos Aires the weather was pretty crappy. Muggy or rainy - not ideal. But luckily on the 3rd day the sun came out!
On the first night we decided to have a girls night and go to a local Tango show with dinner included. The dancing was amazing! One of the waiters took a liking to us and was giving us lots of free wine - perfect before our night out in Palermo (the district in BA for the best clubs and bars!)

The next day I did a walking tour arranged through the hostel around the La Bocca/Caminito area of the city. We were supposed to be looking around the football stadium but it was closed because of a big football match between La Boca and River Plate (2 Argentinian teams) which actually got postponed the next day due to violence from La Bocca fans! Anyway the area of Caminito was beautiful and probably the most colourful place I’ve seen so far in South America. All the houses were painted different bright colours making it a huge tourist attraction and a great photo opportunity!! In the evening I had dinner at an amazing steak restaurant before heading back to our party hostel for another night out!

On our final day I did a cycling tour around the South of the city and the sun was finally out! It was such a good way to explore Buenos Aires as it is so flat you can get around quite quickly and see a lot. We ended our tour and headed to Palermo which reminded me of West Village in New York. There was a market in the main square and the streets were filled with loads of cool independent shops, cafes and Bars. It was nice to see the area during the day before it got dark and we headed out again!!

That’s it for my time in Argentina until I get to the Iguaçu Falls - next stop Uruguay!
