Why Travel?

Some of my friends have joked that I am having a ‘quarter life crisis’ after making the decision to quit my job and go travelling, solo! The jokes aside what most people will know is that travelling is something I’ve always wanted to do but until now I don’t think I’ve been brave enough to pack everything up and go alone. I am lucky that I have no huge commitments to Bristol so now was a better time than any to start my adventure.

I have done a fair amount of travel before, including backpacking around Bali for 3 weeks, a holiday to New Zealand for another 3 and a road trip around the West coast of America, as well as a load of city breaks around Europe in-between. But sadly when working you are always restricted by the amount of time you can go away for, so I made the decision about a year ago to go travelling properly! Since then I’ve changed my mind about going, changed my whole travel route and departure date endless times, but after booking my flight to South America in June this year it has been all go since!

So after around a year of saving and planning I am aiming to be away for around 7/8 months in total exploring 2 continents and a total of 15 different countries. I’ve decided to start a blog as a diary of my journey and the experiences I have along the way, also so that friends and family can keep up to date with where I am and what I'm doing. I have to clarify in advance, I am by no means a travel ‘blogger’ or ‘writer’ but I’ve got so many of my travelling inspiration and tips from other bloggers and writers so hopefully I can pass some of these onto other people throughout my blog along the way.
