Hoi An

After a short flight from Hanoi I arrived in Da Nang and then got a taxi to Hoi An which is about 40 minutes away just down the coast. Hoi An doesn’t have its own airport so you have to fly to into Da Nang. I spent a total of 4 nights in Hoi An and I think it’s my favourite place I’ve visited so far in Vietnam!
My accommodation was a little outside of the town but it was beautiful and the family were so nice. It was a little homestay called Coco Bungalows where the rooms were built like traditional Vietnamese fishing villages. So pretty! We rented a scooter for 4 days so we could get around and explore easily.

There are lovely beaches in Hoi An where you can spend the day relaxing on sun beds or at beach bars! We went to the beach for 3 afternoons exploring all the different spots. Also time to top up on my tan!

Hoi An in the day is very hot (hence why most people spend it at the beach!) but we did go in one morning to look around and try some of the famous Hoi An coffee which has condensed milk in - It is really sweet but so good! We walked around the river and spent some time getting lost in the old town.

In the evening the old town of Hoi An comes alive and is lit by beautiful lanterns! There are some old buildings which we went to look around which were also really nice. They have loads of shops and markets to explore so obviously I shopped! Hoi An is also the home of tailoring so you can have things made for really cheap if you wanted. I brought a pair of blue and red handmade patterned trousers for about £5 - absolutely bargain!

The food I had in Hoi An was also amazing. You can eat really good food for absolutely nothing! I tried all the local dishes including the famous Hoi An wontons which were great! Also the fresh scallops!

One morning we went out and explored the countryside of Hoi An and all the local fishing villages. Most people rent bikes and cycle around Hoi An but we were a bit lazy and got a scooter! We drove through all these fields where the Vietnamese people were farming in the fields and saw some of the fishing villages too.

I also took a day trip to the Ba Na Hills in Da Nang but I am going to do a separate post all about that next!
